Legal immigration

Illegal immigration has long been a problem burdening not only the Czech Republic, but all EU member states. It is possible to target illegal migration with various projects to receive immigrants, that will make legal immigration easier, simpler and as stress-free as possible. One such project is the project of legal migration, “Selection of Qualified Foreign Workers”. The pilot phase of the project started in July 2003 and was completed after the planned five-year period in 2008. After the pilot project in 2008, the Czech Government approved the continuation of the project, Selection of Qualified Foreign Workers. The project is currently implemented by the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs with the assistance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of the Interior.

The project, Selection of Qualified Foreign Workers“, is representative of the Czech Republic’s active migration policy. It supports foreign experts coming together with their families to the Czech Republic, giving them an opportunity to obtain permanent residence in a much shorter time than some others and creates conditions for the rapid and successful integration into society without requiring them to renounce their culture, customs or language. The project may be completely free to join and has engage interested parties and experts from more than 50 countries. The main goal is to provide expert foreign workers with an opportunity to ask for permanent residence with their families in a shortened period of time such as 2.5 years. In addition, each project participant who loses their job in the first year of employment, through their own fault of their own, gets a 60 day protection period to find a new position without having to leave the territory of the Republic. The Czech Republic uses this project for the recruitment of qualified experts from various fields of human activities and offers them to opportunity to obtain a residence permit along with their families in a shorter period than other applicants.
